The explosion of office equipment, consumer goods and new building materials has made VOC sources ubiquitous. It is a little scary, but almost every home and office contains chemicals (up to 900 separate volatile compounds).
Of course, Allerair simply could not ignore this issue and released a few air purifiers for addressing it in the Allerair 5000 series – the AllerAir 5000 D Vocarb, AllerAir 5000 DX Vocarb, AllerAir 5000 W Vocarb and AllerAir 5000 Vocarb.
If you wonder why these Allerair 5000 Vocarb air purifiers fight VOCs better than competing units, the answer is carbon. Large amounts of the highest grade carbon offer enhanced adsorption for formaldehyde, ozone, ethylene, cleaners and heavy metals that can be found in lower weight hydrocarbons or cigarette smoke.
In addition to the carbon filter, the devices also feature today’s must-have – a HEPA-filter (no frills, but able of providing 99.995% removal efficiency for 0.3 micron particles, and a pre-filter, which traps dust particles.
And if you want some additional protection (though the one offered by basic Allerair 5000 Voc filters seems more than enough), you can also add a germicidal UV light and order a custom carbon blend filter.
UPDATE 2021: I would not recommend a unit like the Allerair 5000 as it just can perform when put against the modern bests air purifiers for VOCs. We recently published a study on some of the best units for Volatile Organic Compounds so be sure to check it out if you are in the market for an air purifier for VOC issues.
If you would rather want your filter to capture particles, chemicals an odors directly at their source, there is the AllerAir 5000 W Vocarb air purifier with a special nozzle.
And if you are used to getting the best of the best, there is a unit with a special VOC blend of carbon in an extra deep bed filter for superior purification – the AllerAir 5000 DX Vocarb. While most AllerAir 5000 purifiers feature an 18 lb carbon filter, this one has a 27 lb filter.
On the low setting, the products are barely audible. They become quite loud though on the two higher settings, but, according to the latest research, low is the best. The faster rate of sucking the air makes the airborne particles get stuck in the HEPA, so it is better to keep your unit running on low.
The Allerair 5000 Vocarb air purifiers are just perfect for people concerned about household or office volatile organic compounds, gases and odors. You will feel no paint or other types of chemicals, just beautifully filtered clean air.
